Lavender-Infused Tea

As a flower enthusiast with a love for all things botanical, I’m excited to share with you one of my favorite ways to incorporate flowers into daily rituals: making lavender tea. Lavender, with its calming aroma and delicate flavor, is not only a beautiful addition to the garden but also a versatile herb that can be enjoyed in a soothing cup of tea. Here’s a simple guide to brewing your own fragrant and relaxing lavender tea at home.

To start, you’ll need freshly harvested or dried lavender flowers. If you’re lucky enough to have a lavender plant in your garden, simply snip a few sprigs of flowers, making sure to harvest them when the blooms are fully open for maximum flavor. Alternatively, you can purchase dried culinary lavender from a local herb shop or online retailer. Whichever option you choose, be sure to use high-quality, organic lavender flowers for the best flavor and aroma.

Once you have your lavender flowers ready, it’s time to brew the tea. Start by bringing water to a gentle boil in a pot or kettle. For each cup of tea, you’ll want to use about one to two teaspoons of dried lavender flowers or one to two tablespoons of fresh lavender flowers. Place the lavender flowers in a heatproof teapot or mug, then carefully pour the hot water over them. Cover the teapot or mug and let the lavender steep for about five to seven minutes, allowing the water to infuse with the floral essence and delicate flavor of the lavender.

After the tea has finished steeping, strain out the lavender flowers using a fine-mesh sieve or tea strainer, and pour the fragrant lavender tea into your favorite cup. You can enjoy lavender tea as is for a simple and soothing beverage, or you can add a touch of sweetness with a drizzle of honey or a splash of milk. Sip slowly and savor the calming aroma and gentle flavor of lavender as you unwind and relax, letting the stresses of the day melt away with each sip. Whether enjoyed as a morning ritual to start the day on a peaceful note or as a bedtime treat to promote restful sleep, lavender tea is sure to become a cherished part of your flower-filled life.
